Fees and Enrolment

If you wish to process an application to enrol your child, please make contact with the Principal in the first instance, rod@georgestreet.school.nz or complete and submit the attached enrolment formconsent form and medical form. In accordance with rules set by the New Zealand Ministry of Education, a school fee may or may not be applicable, depending on each child’s residency status and allowable official exceptions.

Code of Practice

George Street Normal School is a signatory to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the Ministry of Education website http://www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/international

International Student Fees

International student fees (excluding NZ$200 administation fee) for 2018 are as follows:

Full year (four school terms): NZ $10,400

or paid per school term: NZ $2,600

or paid per short term visit,

1 to 5 school days:
 NZ $350

 6 to 10 school days: NZ $700

11 days to 15 days: NZ $1,050

Four weeks: NZ $1,400

More than 4 weeks: NZ $2,600 (as for a school term).

Please visit or contact the school and express an interest in enrolment. You are invited to make an appointment to meet with the Principal and ESOL co-ordinator. You are asked to make available:

  • Your passport
  • Your child’s passport 
  • Your child’s birth certificate
  • An immunisation record
  • Evidence of insurance – travel and medical
  • Evidence that students will be living with parents 

These will be photocopied and kept on file.

  • The school monitors compliance with the Code of Practice effectively to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Students ae provided with approapiate support services from a person or persons designated with the pastoral care responsibility for international students at GSNS.
  • Opportunities are provided for students to provide information on their well-being.
  • Student are welcomed and provided with an orientation programme.

  • Students receive appropriate levels of support with the English language, whether it is in ESOL classes, withdrawal or in-class support.
  • Learning in ESOL/withdrawal classes supports learning in mainstream classes.
  • Students are regularly assessed and receive feedback about their progress across the curriculum.
