Covid-19 Level 2 information update- 14 August

14 August 2020

Kia ora koutou

For the present, as we remain in Level 2, we are keeping our school routines as normal as possible, with the added emphasis on personal hygiene, contact tracing and restrictions on large social gatherings.  Information shared by the Ministry of Education in their latest communication reinforces what we are already doing.

Personal Hygiene

Thank you for keeping children at home if they have any symptoms.  As always, you can ring and leave an absence message (including the reason for absence), or use our skool bag app.  This allows us to quickly establish in the mornings that everyone who should be at school is at school.

Remind your child to make sure they give people ‘breathing space’ so they aren’t so close and can feel someone else’s breath.

As mentioned in previous communication if you have purchased a mask for your child (presently not compulsory), please ensure they know how to wear it and not to keep touching it. It is important not to place a ‘used’ mask’ onto surfaces other people might touch.

Social Gatherings

We are sorry that we will only be able to have some of our school present for our mihi whakatau for Mrs Wood and to have to stop our school assemblies again, but are wanting to limit large gatherings within the school.

Contact Tracing

Thank you for your ongoing understanding with the need to contact trace.  If you do not have to enter school grounds and can drop off/pick up your child at the gate, this makes life easier.  However we do appreciate the individual needs of children and so we will continue to have people standing at the main entrances to record contact details, should you need to enter school grounds.  If you are able to use the COVID-19 tracing app, this is also a great help.  Please note that we do shut the gates soon after 9:00am, so having your children at school on time is important.  If you do need to come into the office we have posted the school phone number on the door so you can let us know you are outside.  Gates will be opened at 2:55pm for those who need to enter school grounds to pick up children.  Please do not loiter in school grounds if you do need to pick up your child.

As always don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards
