Move to Level 1 Tuesday 9 June

8 June 2020

Kia ora Koutou

Thank you for your ongoing support as we have come back to school under Level 2 conditions.  We are presently undertaking a review of the changes that were made as a consequence of COVID-19.   Some of these changes have been positive and we would like you to continue to:

  • encourage your children to be independent, by dropping them off at the school gate if at all possible.  We are seeing improvements in children’s self management skills!

  • use our online banking facilities.

  • send children to school  with packed lunches as this has reduced the demands on our office staff and reduces the amount of traffic coming into the school office.

  • get your children to school between 8:30 and 9:00 as gates will be locked soon after this. (The front door will remain open).

  • access our school newsletter via our school app, email (please keep details up to date at the school office) and web page.

  • wait outside the classroom for children to come out at the end of the day.

As we enter into Level 1, while there are no specific public health requirements for Primary schools that we have been made aware of to date, we would like to maintain and reinforce the following messages/practices for the greater good of everyone in our school community:

  • Physical/social distancing is not a requirement but is encouraged when you are around people you don’t know.

  • Regular washing and drying of hands, sneezing and coughing into elbows.

  • Regular disinfecting of shared surfaces

  • If people are sick, they should stay home (phone Healthline or their GP and get tested if they have cold or flu symptoms).

  • Support contact tracing efforts if entering school grounds by utilizing the QR Code posters for the NZ COVID Tracer App, found on our entrance ways.

  • Stringent self-isolation for those who display relevant symptoms of COVID-19, test positive for COVID-19, have been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, or have been overseas in the last 14 days – Ministry of Health information for self-isolation.  (At all levels, upon advice from the local medical officer of health, any educational facilities connected to a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 must close on an individual or group basis for 72 hours to allow contact tracing, and then potentially for a further 14 days.)

  • Consider the key public health measures as outlined via this link (Golden Rules).

So for the most part, Alert Level 1 will be very much business as usual including resuming the normal 3:00pm pick up as of Tuesday 9 June.  Good hygiene practices and people who are unwell staying away will remain a priority.

We plan to commence our school assemblies again in week 2 of Term 3 and many sports teams are now starting up.

Once again thanks for your continued support. If you have any queries, please be in contact.

Ngā mihi
