In order to avoid overcrowding, or the likelihood of overcrowding, the George Street Normal School Board of Trustees has adopted an enrolment scheme which has been approved by the Ministry of Education. Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the home zone described below, and enrolled from outside our zone if student numbers permit. Please note that, while we have an enrolment scheme, most enrolments are taken from outside our zone.
The George Street Normal School enrolment zone includes: from the corner of Albany and George Streets down to Anzac Ave. Along Anzac Ave north turning right into Union Street East to Parry Street. Along Butts Road continuing into Dundas Street to Leith Street North, including St Abbs Place, Lovelock Avenue up to number 4 and Gore Place. Right into Leith Street North to Brook Street, right into North Road up to and including Cornhill, Carlyle and Chacombe Streets, along Bank Street turning left then right onto Pine Hill road continuing on the Dunedin Northern Motorway to Patmos Ave. Along Patmos Ave to Malvern Street, then follow Leith Valley Road to Dunedin-Waitati Road (State Highway 1). Along Hillswick Street to Islay Street, including Booth Road and following Wakari Road as far as Burma Road. Following along Burma Road to the start of Cannington Road, connecting through Ross Creek Reservoir to Woodhaugh Street, around Prospect Park to the corner of Lachlan Avenue, connecting with Queens Drive, Drummond Street, Pitt Street, to include Elder Street, turn left into George Street to the corner of Albany Street. Note: Both sides of streets, roads, avenues and terraces are included in the home zone.
The enrolment of out of zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education and Training Act 2020.
