Ruth is our fantastic Middle Team Leader. Ruth returned to George Street in 2020 after spending a few years living in Vietnam with her husband and 2 children. She is a passionate teacher who has the ability to excite, motivate and hook students into learning through valuing their voice, responding to their interests/strengths and providing engaging learning experiences. Ruth has curriculum strengths in literacy, numeracy, physical education, te reo Māori and Pasifika. Ruth teaches in Room 14 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and undertakes her leadership duties on Thursdays.
Kate Atchison (B.A., PGCE Primary) - Room 14

Kate brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to teaching, having worked as a Health School teacher for many years. Her strengths include relationship building and inclusive communities. She has a strong interest in curriculum design, classroom adaptions and environment. Kate teaches in Room 2 on Thursdays.
Farrin Quin (BTcg) - Room 13

Farrin is a beginning teacher who thrives on building strong relationships with her students. A focus in her classroom is creating an environment where students can be themselves and let their personalities shine. She is committed to making learning exciting and engaging for all her students, with a particular passion for inquiry and visual art. Farrin believes in recognising each student’s strengths and encourages them to approach challenges with a can-do attitude.
Rachael Hanson (BEd, Grad Dip in Ed & Tchg)) - Room 9

Rachael is an experienced teacher, having spent many years in Early Childhood Education before returning to Primary last year. She is really passionate about visual art and literacy, and loves finding fun, creative ways to explore these in the classroom. One of Rachael's favourite parts of teaching is getting to know each student—what they’re interested in, what they’re great at, and how they learn best. Rachael will be teaching in Room 9 on Thursdays each week.
Catherine Smith (BA Hons, PhD, Grad Dip Ed) - Room 10

Catherine enjoys getting to know all the children in her class as individuals and creates a happy, supportive environment for learning. She has strengths in teaching literacy and provides hands-on, engaging learning experiences. Catherine loves learning and her latest course has been Te Reo Māori through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
Leonie Spencer (BA, BEd, Grad Cert TEAL) - Room 11

Leonie enjoys getting to know each child and their whānau. She values children’s individuality and cultural diversity and aims to make them proud of who they are. She encourages teamwork and cooperation, assisting the development of people skills. Leonie has strengths in social sciences, literacy and Te Reo Māori. She is constantly up-skilling her knowledge of Te Reo. Leonie shares teaching in room 11 with Linda King and teaches on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and alternate Fridays. Leonie is also one of the Te Ao Māori leaders in our school.

Linda is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher who believes in forming positive relationships with all her students. She has strengths in numeracy and literacy and wants to install a love of learning in her classroom. Linda is passionate about music and the performing arts and also takes one of our school choir groups. Linda shares teaching room 10 with Leonie Spencer and teaches on Mondays, Thursdays and alternating Fridays.
Kate McCracken - Teaching Assistant
Kate is passionate about learning and helping children to learn. She loves the diverse cultures in our school and enjoys working with children who are learning English as a second language. Kate is trained in English language learning and has spent the past few years studying Te Reo at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
