If My Child Is Sick...

School Absences

If your child will not be attending, or will be late, on a school day, please telephone the school 474 0825 ext 1 and leave a message on our voice mail. Alternatively, a message can be sent through on Hero.

The answer phone and app service is available 24 hours a day and checked each morning at 9.00am. Our intention is to account for every pupil of George Street Normal School as early in the day as possible.

We ask that parents take seriously the responsibility of letting the school know of any intended absence in advance. The resulting actions (from non attendance and no communication) of additional phoning, home visits and calls to the police will be taken as required and deemed necessary.

In addition to letting us know not to expect your child we also ask that contact be made with your child’s teacher if the absence is for more than 5 days.  If you are taking your child out of school for extended overseas travel, please request leave for your child via the Principal.

Please do not send sick children to school. This results in infection spreading, unhappy children, and additional work for office staff.

Significant absences for any reasons other than illness should be discussed prior to the absence with the Principal.

Thank you for your co-operatio

Robyn, Principal
